IBEW 26 Apprentices Give Back to Community(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)Construction is more than just a job for IBEW Local 26’s Apprenticeship Club, it’s also a way to give back to the community. Last August, eight members of the club volunteered their time and skill to work on a housing development in DC's Ward 5 with Habitat for Humanity. The group worked on three townhouses in the Ivy City neighborhood, one of the most economically challenged areas of the city. Apprentices spent the day framing out the future homes and installing windows, siding and stairways. The union says it's "proud to see the apprentices carrying on their tradition of giving back to the community." Excerpted from IBEW 26’s IN Charge magazine
