ASASP Battling Attacks on School Employees

Wednesday, October 12, 2011

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)The recent spate of attacks on working families have extended to area public school employees. The Association of Supervisory and Administrative School Personnel (ASASP) reports that they’ve recently filed 30 grievances and a Demand for Arbitration against the Prince George's County Public School's Superintendent and Board of Education. The Board of Education “has systematically violated ASASP's Collective Bargaining Agreements and has attempted to change language in the Collective Bargaining Agreements without negotiation,” says ASASP Executive Director Doris Reed. "The actions taken against public school employees will ultimately affect our students and our future." Like many other unions across the country, ASASP plans to continue to battle for its members.
