CSA's "Labor Cares, Labor Shares": Building Trades Assist Injured Marine

After being wounded in three separate attacks while serving in
Iraq, Marine Jeromye Rogers found it difficult to navigate the steep steps on
his front porch without aggravating his injuries. However, through the
Washington DC Building Trades Council’s collaboration with Helmets to Hardhats and the Wounded
Warrior Project, Rogers - a three-time Purple Heart recipient who has
also been awarded a Bronze Star with combat V – can now walk up to his front
door without pain thanks to some recent help from union volunteers. “We
volunteered to help Rogers with a home modification,” report Washington DC
Building Trades Council representatives. “Over two days we replaced his front
deck and fixed his kitchen cabinets.” Project volunteers included members of
the Washington DC Building Trades Council, Elevator Constructors Local 10, and
the Painters and Allied Trades District Council 51. Helmets to Hardhats is
“dedicated to helping National Guard, Reserve, retired and transitioning
active-duty military members connect to quality career and training
opportunities in one of America's most challenging and rewarding industries –
the construction industry.” The Wounded Warrior program “supports disabled
Veterans by providing the tools, information and community that will help
Veterans gain careers in the Building and Construction Industry.” - photo courtesy Washington DC Building Trades Council
