SAMs Workers To Rally For Justice Today

Citing frustration with pay and sick leave issues, Downtown Safety/Hospitality and Maintenance workers (SAMs) – who voted for a union nearly two years ago – will rally outside the Downtown Business Improvement District’s (BID) headquarters at 12P today. “Soon after the Downtown SAM’s voted for the IAM, BID hired a union busting law firm to undermine the outcome of the election and to stamp out the voice of its employees,” says the IAM, the union the workers voted for. “BID has decided that public tax dollars would be better spent attacking the union than lifting the low wages and benefits they offer their employees. The time has come for Downtown BID to recognize the union and negotiate a contract that gives living wages and benefits to its employees.” Click here for details. - photo courtesy IAM
