Workers Memorial Day At The National Labor College

A Workers Memorial Day Symposium on “OSHA after 40 Years; The
Continued Fight for Safe Workplaces” is the focus of today’s Workers
Memorial Day observance at the National Labor College. Beginning at 2P
and keynoted by George Cohen, Chair, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service,
invited panelists include Thomas J. Kriger, Provost, National Labor College,
Jordan Barab, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and
Health, Millie Rodriguez, Health and Safety Specialist, American Federation of
Government Employees, Peg Seminario, Director of Safety and Health, AFL-CIO and
Veda Shook, President, Association of Flight Attendants. The Workers Memorial
Day Ceremony begins at 3:45P at the NLC Workers Memorial, with music by the DC
Labor Chorus followed by the Reading of the Names; Ringing of the Bell, with
reflections by Liz Shuler, AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer, Ruth Ruttenberg, David
Michaels, Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health and
Cecil Roberts, President, United Mine Workers. A reception follows from 4:30P
