Hands Off Medicare And Medicaid

Progressive organizations and Members of Congress are staging a protest this morning against GOP plans to eliminate Medicare and Medicaid. Organizers are urging those concerned about the popular programs to join them at 11A in the House Triangle on the south side of the Capitol between the Capitol and House Office Buildings.  Far from controlling health care costs, CBO estimates that the GOP budget being voted on today would increase health care costs because it replaces an efficient public option with an inefficient private option, and note that it does “both of these things in order to give $1 trillion in tax cuts to the wealthy and big corporations and allow private insurance companies to get their hands on the Medicare trust fund.”
