Workshop Explores Power & Perils Of Online Media

Nearly 50 local communicators for local unions and allied organizations turned out for Friday’s free “Tweet This” workshop on online and social media. The workshop focused on both the power and perils of online media, which offer exciting new communication tools at low or no cost, but which are also easily misunderstood and misused. The pros and cons of websites, email, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and texting were reviewed by presenters including Union City Managing Editor Chris Garlock, Mariya Strauss (standing, at right) of the International Labor Communicators Association and Lisa Gebbia (center, in pink shirt) and Tara Landis (at left, in green shirt) of Kenefick Communications.
