On The Line Today

Spring is in the air and if it seems like labor rallies and
demonstrations are popping up all over town that’s because they are. Here are
a couple of events today we want to highlight:
1P: Rally to Save
Public Media: Broadcast unions and public interest groups (Free Press,
MoveOn, and Credo) will rally to Save Funding for Public Media and save the
local broadcasting jobs that are at risk from defunding. 1P,
Upper Senate Park (Capitol Hill)
4:30P: Rally To Support Public
Workers: Labor rights activists and community allies - led by MoveOn - will
rally in support of public workers in Virginia. 4:30P,
Fairfax City Regional Library
5:30P: Rally To Support Social Security
Workers: Social Security Administration workers - who are facing nearly
$2 billion in budget cuts by the House GOP - will be joined by area activists to
rally to "let the GOP know their budget is unacceptable." 5:30P,

7P: Labor Film- The Big Uneasy!:
Humorist and New Orleans resident Harry Shearer will screen his film "The Big
Uneasy!" at the AFI in Silver Spring as part of the DC Labor FilmFest’s
Whistleblower Series. 7P,
