Spring is in the air and if it seems like labor rallies and demonstrations are popping up all over town that’s because they are. Here are a couple of events today we want to highlight:
P: Rally to Save Public Media: Broadcast unions and public interest groups (Free Press, MoveOn, and Credo) will rally to Save Funding for Public Media and save the local broadcasting jobs that are at risk from defunding. 1P, Upper Senate Park (Capitol Hill)
30P: Rally To Support Public Workers: Labor rights activists and community allies - led by MoveOn - will rally in support of public workers in Virginia. 4:30P, Fairfax City Regional Library
30P: Rally To Support Social Security Workers: Social Security Administration workers - who are facing nearly $2 billion in budget cuts by the House GOP - will be joined by area activists to rally to "let the GOP know their budget is unacceptable." 5:30P, 2100 M Street NW
P: Labor Film- The Big Uneasy!: Humorist and New Orleans resident Harry Shearer will screen his film "The Big Uneasy!" at the AFI in Silver Spring as part of the DC Labor FilmFest’s Whistleblower Series. 7P, AFI Silver Theatre
