Labor To Oppose "Right To Work" Bill In Annapolis Today

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

Saying that “Labor needs to fill the House Economics Matters Committee” to oppose “yet another Right to Work bill, HB743,” Maryland State and District of Columbia AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Donna Edwards urged leaders and activists to meet at the State Fed headquarters (7 School Street in Annapolis) today at 11:30A. Union members overflowed the Senate Finance Hearing Room last Thursday as union leaders testified against SB660, the “Right to Work For Less” bill in a “powerful show of solidarity against anti-labor bills,” according to Edwards. “Our show of solidarity today moves a pro-worker agenda forward tomorrow,” Edwards says.
