Nurses at Washington Hospital Center are going ahead with plans for a 1-day strike March 4. National Nurses United has been negotiating with hospital management this week and the strike announcement follows negotiation sessions Thursday, Friday and Monday that the nurses say produced insufficient progress toward resolving the RNs’ primary concerns regarding serious patient safety problems and nursing standards at the hospital. Meanwhile, "local labor is mobilizing to support our nurses," in a major rally on March 4 says Metro Council President Jos Williams. - photo: Washington Hospital Center nurses rally in May 2010; photo by Adam Wright
