Filmmaker Bennett Singer will screen "Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin" twice in DC, on Sunday and Monday. The film about Rustin - who Time Magazine calls the "unknown hero of the civil rights movement" - and his global fight against injustice screens free at 8P this Sunday at Busboys & Poets, with a panel discussion with Singer and Executive Director of DC Vote, Ilir Zherka, on Rustin and the ongoing struggle for voting rights. The film screens again at 12P for free with Singer on Monday at the Library of Congress' Pickford Theatre as part of African American Heritage Month celebrations. "Brother Outsider is a mesmerizing eye-opener," says Michael Fox of the San Francisco Film Society. "The film inspires audiences to carry on Rustin's worldwide crusade against injustice, discrimination and poverty."
