In Memoriam: Franklin Wallick, Editor & Writer

Franklin Wallick, 87, the editor of Washington Report, a weekly United Auto Workers newsletter, from 1963 to 1987, died Dec. 3 at Riderwood Village retirement community in Silver Spring. Wallick wrote often about workplace safety and was the author of the book "The American Worker: An Endangered Species" (1972), which was republished in 1984 and retitled "Don't Let Your Job Kill You." During the 1970s and '80s, he led groups of union members, activists and scholars on trips to Sweden to study workplace safety conditions.
