DC JwJ Student Labor Action Project coordinator Isaiah Toney was honored at the Washington Peace Center (WPC) Award Gala last Wednesday. “Isaiah has impressed us with his ability to organize students across area campuses to support workers’ struggles, inspiring us at the One Nation march with his fantastic speech, and of course, injecting a little fun into the movement with his band Lucky Dub,” said Pedro Cruz, WPC board member and former DC JwJ organizer, who presented Toney with the award. “From small pickets to national rallies you can find Isaiah taking a stand for justice.” Other awardees included former DC JwJ board member Walda Katz Fishman, Rosa Lozano of Casa de Maryland and Johnny Barnes of the National Capital ACLU.
