Iron 201's Gaither Musgrove: Former Business
Manager, President, and Apprentice Coordinator of Ironworkers Local 201 Gaither
Musgrove died November 16th in his retirement home in Longs, SC. "He was a huge
man of imposing presence and a staunch unionist who was very active in the local
DC labor movement during the mid-1980's," reports Local 201's Ed Mattos. A
memorial service will be held Dec. 4 from 2-4P at the Deale Elks Lodge in Deale
MD. Kevin Bruffy, AFL-CIO: AFL-CIO maintenance manager Kevin
Bruffy (r) unexpectedly passed away last week at age 48. He had worked at the
AFL-CIO for about 12 years, and "You couldn't find a nicer guy to work with,"
said AFL-CIO Facilities Coordinator Maureen Smith. "He was always upbeat, a
great worker, very devoted to his family and a good friend to a lot of his
co-workers." A member of OPEIU Local 2, Bruffy, a native Washingtonian, loved
deer hunting, was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, played the drums and liked to
attend Lynyrd Skynyrd and Pearl Jam concerts. A service was held Monday;
contributions to Bruffy's family are being accepted at the register in the
AFL-CIO cafeteria or in the Facility Management Department on the 2nd
floor.
