Wage Theft Day Of Action Set For Thursday
Wednesday, November 17, 2010(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
Workers and faith leaders are taking the fight against wage
theft to an unlikely location this Thursday: DC Metropolitan Police
Headquarters. "When workers put in weeks on a job and then receive absolutely no
pay, that's criminal behavior," said Arturo Griffiths, a day labor organizer
with DC Jobs with Justice. The November
18th action will feature workers, faith leaders and legal experts, and
is part of the national Mobilization to Combat Wage Theft, organized by
Interfaith Worker Justice to call attention to this “epidemic” and mobilize
support for the various efforts to combat it, from national legislation to
creative local initiatives. Thursday’s action starts
