Washington Hospital Center nurses are planning a one-day strike on November 24 in an effort to bring the hospital back to the bargaining table. “We’re ready for action!” said National Nurses United yesterday, noting that the strike vote won 90% approval by the frustrated nurses and “showed our willingness to stand together to demand WHC recognize our dedication and negotiate a fair contract.” Key issues include patient safety, unsafe staffing conditions, unauthorized takeaways in pay and paid time off, and refusal to recognize the union.
