(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

Isaiah Toney, DC Jobs with Justice's new Student Labor Action Project coordinator hails from Oakland, California, where he got his start in organizing by re-assembling the fractured citywide student government. After a four-month crash course in community organizing from Oakland ACORN, Isaiah came to Washington, D.C. to begin his undergraduate studies at The George Washington University. As DC SLAP coordinator, Isaiah supports and organizes with labor solidarity and activist groups on college campuses in the DC area to support their fights for workers' rights on campuses and bring them out to DC JwJ causes to support struggles in the community. From small pickets to national rallies, you'll find Isaiah taking a stand for social justice and workers' rights in a variety of places. - photo: Toney at the October 2 One Nation demonstration; photo by Mackenzie Baris
