“Starting something new is hard, but the real challenge is sustaining it,” write DC Labor FilmFest Co-Chairs Jos Williams (left) and Mark Dudzic (right) in this year’s FilmFest program guide. “So we are proud – and perhaps just a little bit amazed – to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the DC Labor FilmFest this year. Each year over the last decade the DC Labor FilmFest has grown, finding and screening nearly 200 films about work, workers and workers issues from around the world, as more filmmakers have tackled our issues. And we’ve partnered with an ever-expanding group of labor and community allies to bring screenings to more people each year, including this year’s record number of free workplace screenings. As we noted last year, the DC Labor FilmFest has become a leader in what must now be recognized as a global labor filmfest movement, supporting local labor film festival organizing efforts worldwide and maintaining online databases of labor films and labor film festivals. None of this would have been possible without our sponsors,” Williams and Dudzic note, extending special thanks to Lead Sponsor American Income Life and Premiere Sponsors AFL-CIO/Working America and SEIU, as well as all the 2010 sponsors and the American Film Institute. “As always, our final and most heartfelt thanks go to you, our loyal Labor FilmFest audience,” the FilmFest Co-Chairs conclude. “Your expectations inspire us, your confidence humbles us, and your attendance rewards us. You are why the DC Labor FilmFest exists, and as long as you keep turning out, we’ll keep showing labor films. Enjoy the show; see you on the line!” Click here for the complete FilmFest schedule and ticket info. - photo by Adam Wright
