AFL-CIO Secretary-Treasurer Liz Shuler (right) kicked off the 2010 DC Labor FilmFest Tuesday with a free noontime screening of Working Lunch, the DC Labor FilmFest’s 30-minute compilation of short films about labor. “I’m a big movie buff,” said Shuler, “and film and video is one of the creative ways the labor movement must use to reach broader audiences, especially young people who are so visually oriented.” Working Lunch screens today at AFGE 12, Thursday at AFSCME, and Friday at both AFGE and the IBEW, with raffles of FilmFest passes and t-shirts at each screening. The FilmFest main screenings begin this Friday night at the AFI in Silver Spring: click here for the complete schedule and descriptions of the films. “There are lots of great films,” Shuler said, “Bring your friends and family!” - photo by Adam Wright
