(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

“This rally is about putting our city’s residents and people all across America back to work,” said DC City Council Chairman Vince Gray (r) at yesterday’s One Nation Working Together press conference at the Wilson Building. “I see it as an effort to support those things that will help the people of this city – jobs, justice and good quality education,” added Gray, who plans to participate in Saturday’s historic rally on the National Mall. Sponsored by One Nation Working Together - a social movement of individuals and organizations “committed to putting America back to work and pulling America back together” – tens of thousands of people are expected to gather at the Lincoln Memorial at noon on Saturday, determined to “build a more united country with good jobs, equal justice, and quality public education for all.” Click here for the latest central listing of Saturday’s labor events; email streetheat@dclaborarchives.org to notify us of other labor-sponsored activities! – report/photo by Adam Wright
