Free FilmFest Screenings Launch

Union
Privilege hosted the first DC Labor FilmFest Working Lunch screening
Friday. “These ‘working lunches’ are a great way to keep UP staff apprised
of labor movement happenings, how it’s perceived and what we can all be doing
as working people and organizations to support it,” said Brooke Tredwell,
Executive Assistant to the President. Union Privilege staffers gathered in the
conference room to watch eight short videos about labor. The 30-minute screening
featured a wide range of topics, many humorous or musical and others
“eye-opening,” like The Janitor’s portrait of a school custodian. Six more
workplace screenings have been scheduled; the compilation is available upon
request for showing at union offices, halls and workplaces: email streetheat@dclaborarchives.org
for details. Prizes – a Labor FilmFest t-shirt and free FilmFest passes –
were raffled off: congrats to winners Carl Calabro, Valerie Cole, Karyn
Dubravetz and Yvette Floyd.
