Hotel Workers Prep For Battle
Wednesday, September 15, 2010(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
DC hotel workers are beginning to organize for possible job
actions as contract negotiations drag on. The contract covering about 5,000 area
hotel workers was set to expire today and was extended to October 8. Hotel
companies are negotiating separately this time around, which is bogging down
negotiations with UNITE HERE Local 25, sources tell Union City. While healthcare
is off the table, workers are gearing up to protect wages, benefits and workload
issues from demands by the companies. - photo: UNITE HERE 25
