(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

Amalgamated Transit Union Local 689 – an affiliate of the Metro Washington Council – has re-launched its “Member Spotlight” video series on the local’s website, highlighting the work that local transit workers perform and sharing their concerns and ideas. This month’s video introduces Greenbelt Train Division Depot Clerk Donna Thomas. Thomas talks about what the local’s slogan, ‘we make it work!’ means to her, how the Red Line crash incident has brought the union together, how to prevent future accidents, and the importance of Local 689. The union represents more than 10,000 area transit workers, from operators to mechanics in the metro-area transportation system. Click here now to visit the ATU 689 Member Spotlight.
