Labor On The Move: CWA To Merge 2 Area Districts:

CWA Districts 2 and 13 are merging into a new District that will have a combined membership of 45,000 CWA members in five states. The combined District – approved at the July CWA convention – “will allow more intensified attention to Union programs and functions, including more focused collective bargaining rights enforcement involving Verizon, the largest employer in the combined District,” says CWA. The new district will consist of the following states: Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. The existing two District structures will remain in place until the 2011 convention, when an election will be held for Vice-President of the new District.
