Hotel Negotiations Stalled, Strike Prep Continues
Thursday, January 13, 2005(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
Negotiations between hotel management and union members broke off
Wednesday night when management refused to offer a financial proposal.
Management's latest
financial offer was made October 27, 2004. “The union
responded to that offer with some movement on the financial terms, and has
repeatedly requested that the hotels make the customary responses,” reports
Amanda Cooper. “Management now claims that the offer on the table is their
best offer.” Local 25 continues to prepare for a strike in the event that an
agreement cannot be reached by Saturday, January 15, and supporters are urged to
join them at today’s picket practice.
