Labor Hits DC Streets For Gray
Monday, August 23, 2010(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
Dozens of local labor volunteers fanned out across DC’s Ward 5
Saturday morning on the second Labor-to-Labor lit drop for mayoral candidate
Vincent Gray and other labor-endorsed candidates, including Ward 5 Councilman
Harry Thomas Jr. (center), who spoke briefly to the assembled volunteers.
“When you have someone on the ropes, you’ve got to knock them out,” Thomas
said, referring to recent polls showing Fenty lagging Gray by as much as 10
points. “But we can take nothing for granted,” Thomas warned, thanking the
labor volunteers for giving up their Saturday morning for the campaign. “Fenty
won’t give District workers jobs, so we’re going to give Vince Gray the
Mayor’s job.” Watch Union City this week for plans for this
