The union representing Montgomery County government workers – UFCW 1994 MCGEO – has “unearthed several unfair labor practice charges filed by a member of its rival union,” reports Maryland Politics Watch. The UPSEU member claims that the union is “restricting my ability to participate in local union elections,” as well as “consistently failing to uphold specific terms of the labor agreement.” The member also alleges that UPSEU has refused to provide any information about collected dues money and that it has failed to “provide the name(s) or local office(s) of a legitimate union representative.” The charges are currently pending with the National Labor Relations Board; click here for the full story. - photo: dozens of Montgomery County government workers rallied against “scab unions” UPSEU and NCEU – which are attempting to raid MCGEO members – in July, 2010; photo by Boaz Young-El, AFL-CIO Union Summer Intern
