(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

“I saw the mention in Friday’s ‘Weekend Labor History’ of the Alliance for Labor Action (ALA),” writes AFSCME Council 26 Executive Director Carl Goldman. “When I was a student in Montgomery College I interviewed the ALA Director for a school project. While I had been active in supporting the United Farm Workers since my senior year in high school, this was my first exposure to an organization of unionists that focused on applying specifically progressive politics to the labor movement beyond their own union. The need for progressive organizations of labor and about labor are no less needed today than they were back then.” Whether you love Union City, found an error or have a story suggestion, we love hearing from our readers!
