Passing The Hat For Striking Daycon Workers

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

Leaders and staff of the Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO and the Community Services Agency personally donated $400 this past week to help striking Daycon workers during their ongoing struggle, which is now in its seventh week. "Thanks very much to everyone who has contributed," says CSA Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy. "This is a great gesture, but unfortunately we have not received many donations from other sources, which has placed a tremendous amount of strain on our agency and the workers." The Metro Council and CSA are strongly urging local unions and their membership to help the striking workers by donating non-perishable food items, checks or grocery gift cards; donations can be dropped off or mailed to the CSA - earmarked 'IBT Strikers' - at 888 16th Street, NW, Suite 520, Washington, DC 20006. Email kmckirch@dclaborarchives.org for more information.
