(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

"We're almost there!" says DC Jobs with Justice Executive Director Mackenzie Baris. With less than a week to go to JwJ's annual "I'll Be There" Awards, the labor-community coalition is just $1,800 from their $20,000 goal. "DC Jobs with Justice has really expanded its impact over the last year," says JwJ Board member Chris Garlock, "and this financial support will ensure that it continues as a force for worker justice in our community." There's still time to sign up as a "Workers' Rights Defender" ($100), Mass Mobilizer ($250), Movement Builder ($500) or Solidarity Superstar ($750). Sponsors will be recognized in the Awards program on June 10; awardees include former director of American Rights at Work Mary Beth Maxwell, ACLU Executive Director Johnny Barnes, The Justice at Wings Campaign and Fair Budget Coalition's Kristi Matthews. Deadline for sponsorships is Tuesday, June 8th. For more information or to send in a sponsorship contact rcastel@dclaborarchives.org or 202-974-8281. - photo: ACLU Executive Director Johnny Barnes speaking out against Arizona's 'anti-immigration' law in front of the DC City Council in April; photo by Adam Wright
