"I'll Be There Awards" Ad Deadline Extended
Thursday, May 27, 2010(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
The deadline to submit ads in this year’s “I’ll Be There
Awards” program book has been extended to June 1. Proceeds from the annual
awards ceremony – now in its eighth year – benefit DC Jobs with Justice (DC
JwJ), a coalition of 40 local labor, community, faith and student
organizations. “DC JwJ has helped thousands of union members win
contracts for better wages, benefits, and work conditions,” says DC JwJ’s
Board Chair Roger Newell. “Your investment of $750, $500, $250, or $100 will
help them continue to expand their important work.” This year’s awardees
include former American Rights at Work Director Mary Beth Maxwell; ACLU National
Capital Area Executive Director Johnny Barnes; the Justice at Wings Campaign and
the Fair Budget Coalition's Kristi Matthews. Tickets for the event – which is
set for Thursday, June 10 – are $25 to $50; light fare and refreshments will
be served. For more information, and to place an ad in the program book, email
rcastel@dclaborarchives.org or
call 202-974-8281.
