(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)

The campaign to support striking Daycon workers ratcheted up several notches yesterday as the Metro Washington Council called on major customers to “ask Daycon to return to the bargaining table and negotiate a fair settlement in good faith with its workers.” Meanwhile, Council President Jos Williams asked the customers – including a number of major local institutions -- to “refuse to accept deliveries from the industrial cleaning supplies provider until the strike is settled.” The strike by members of Teamsters Local 639 is now in its’ 11th day.
