Guild Announces Service Awards

Local winners of the Newspaper Guild's annual Service Awards include Rick Powell, Amy Lampkin, Deborah Weinstock, Ed Feigen, Cassandra Shieh and John Small. Powell, of UNITE HERE Local 25, was declared Organizer of the Year, while Lampkin, Weinstock and Feigen of the AFL-CIO share this year's Dan de Souza Memorial Award for Member of the Year. Shieh, of the Catholic News Service, was named winner of the Nadine Grinder Memorial Award for Shop Steward of the Year. Local winners of writing awards included Mark Gruenberg, Susan Levine, Evika Pontarelli Compart, Sarah Kaufman, S. Mitra Kalita, John H. Sullivan, Tripp Baltz and Rich Bronson. Photo and design winners included Mark Gail, John McDonnell and Anthony DeFeo. All winners will be honored at a reception on March 27 in Baltimore.
