Workers will rally outside Verizon headquarters in DC Tuesday at noon to demand that Verizon take responsibility for the unpaid wages of subcontracted workers. The workers are employees of subcontractors hired by Verizon to dig trenches for new fiber optics cable. Workers have asked Verizon to intervene on their behalf, but the company "has denied responsibility for the nonpayment of dozens of workers," says CASA de Maryland. The rally is being organized by CASA de Maryland, the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, and the Virginia Legal Aid Justice Center.
