Hundreds of activists filled the Gompers Room of the AFL-CIO last night to
honor labor and community leaders at the 6th Annual DC Jobs with Justice (JwJ)
“I’ll Be There” Awards. This year’s honorees included Metro Council
President Jos Williams, Foundry United Methodist Church, Empower DC, and DC public school activists Mary
Spencer and Marc Borbely. The evening started with a lively performance by Sin
Fronteras followed by a moving adaptation of the popular Indian street theater
play “The Pit” by the ACT Theater Collective. The event helped to raise
funds for the work of DC JwJ. To donate to DC JWJ online, click here.
