No Seat for Workers at McCain Table

Monday, June 9, 2008

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
Working families will gather outside two of Sen. John McCain's high-dollar fundraisers tonight in the District and Northern Virginia to call on him to renounce corporate lobbyists and other Washington insiders who have been the primary backers of the Bush economic agenda. "John McCain talks about 'the right kind of change,' but after 25 years as a Washington insider, it's hard to see how he represents any change at all," said Joslyn Williams, Metropolitan Washington Labor Council President. "McCain and his corporate cronies have no interest in the needs and concerns of working families."  Added Daniel Duncan, Northern Virginia Central Labor Council President, "The fact that McCain is raising money at the Ritz in McLean, Virginia, one of the 50 richest zip codes in America, speaks volumes. Working families do not have a seat at McCain's table." Activists will gather in McLean VA at 4:30P and in DC at 4:45P.
