Three Days of Music, Art & Organizing
Thursday, June 5, 2008
(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
Registrations are still being accepted for the Great Labor Arts Exchange
(GLAE) and Conference on Creative Organizing (CCO) from June 22-24 at the
National Labor College. “It’s a wonderful gathering of professional and
amateur performers as well as artists from a variety of disciplines,” says Elise
Bryant, Board Chair of the Labor Heritage Foundation. “People come from
as far away as California and British Columbia to attend. There’s something
here for anybody who loves music and art with a labor flavor.” The GLAE – in
its 30th year – brings together union members, artists, educators, and
community activists to celebrate the labor movement through the use of songs,
art, poetry, theatre, visual arts, and film. The 11th Annual CCO – which
coincides with the GLAE – is a training program for union staff, organizers,
and activists seeking creative strategies that will put the “zing” in their
organizing. For more info or to register, click here.
