The end of the school year is just around the corner but work is only
beginning for DC principals fighting School Chancellor Michelle Rhee’s recent
decision to fire twenty-four of their colleagues, reported Dion Haynes Saturday
on the Washington Post’s DC Wire. This “decision appears to be
arbitrary, personal, political and potentially discriminatory,” Aona
Jefferson, Executive Vice President of the Council of School Officers Local 4,
told Haynes. Local 4 is asking the DC City Council to investigate the firings
and for Rhee to release the list of all the principals affected.
