Following last month’s huge turnout for SiCKO (SiCKO
Plays to Packed House 4/28/08 UC), another large crowd packed the AFL-CIO
Friday to celebrate Asian Pacific American Heritage Month with a free screening
of Grassroots Rising. “Asian American labor had been an important part of
labor history and history in general,” said Director Robert Winn, who
introduced the film and did a Q & A following the screening. The screening
was sponsored by the DC Labor Filmfest, the Asian Pacific American Labor
Alliance (APALA) DC Chapter, and the DC Chapter of the National Asian Pacific
American Women's Forum (NAPAWF).
