The University of California DC Center will be the site of a solidarity rally this Wednesday at 1P to support thousands of University of California (UC) patient care and service workers fighting for a fair contract. The UC workers – who are represented by AFSCME – have been working without a contract for ten months and may go on strike on Wednesday, reported Doug Cunningham Friday for the Workers Independent News. “Many of the workers are in poverty and qualify for public assistance,” reported Cunningham. “The workers want better wages and benefits and they’ve been negotiating with UC for ten months.”
