Indian Workers Begin Hunger Strike Today

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)
Hundreds of Indian workers will rally outside the White House this morning at 10A to launch a hunger strike. The workers – former guest workers who faced slavery-like conditions at the hands of their employer Signal International (DC Jobs with Justice Corner: Indian Workers to Stage Hunger Strike in DC 5/8/08 UC) – are staging the hunger strike to demand the federal government investigate the guest worker program and abuse of post-Katrina Gulf Coast workers.
