"Many struggling workers are being forced to choose between buying
gas for their car or food for their families," says Metro Council President Jos
Williams who spoke at Tuesday's kick-off of Saturday's "Stamp Out Hunger" food
drive. The annual national drive is organized by the National Association of
Letter Carriers (NALC); NALC Branch
142 - which sponsored Tuesday's kick-off event - and 3825 are coordinating
the local food drive. "This year's drive is particularly urgent," said Williams,
"with food bank cupboards emptying and demand increasing." To participate in the
drive, leave non-perishable food items near your mailbox this Saturday, May 10.
