Secretary of Labor Chao Bars Labor B'Day Surprise: Department of Labor (DOL) workers - members of AFGE Local 12 - were barred from delivering 25,000 letters Wednesday to Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao demanding she stop trampling workers' rights, reports the Shame on Elaine website. DOL security told workers they "had been monitoring the Shame on Elaine website,  and that [they] would not allow the letters to be delivered to Secretary Chao," reported Local 12. Security also told the workers that "the Union was engaging in subterfuge and undermining the Department's security process" and the "letters posed a security threat to the Department."
