Psychiatric Workers Approve New Contract: Workers
at the Psychiatric Institute of Washington (PIW) voted to ratify a tentative
contract last Wednesday, reports the CWA Local 2336 website. CWA
Local 2336 represents the workers. Highlights of the contract include 10% pay
increase over 4 years, minimum wage requirements for Registered Nurses and other
workers, and rules on reductions in hours and staffing. For more details on the
contract, click here.
Deadline for Slideshow Ads Today: Today is the
deadline to include an ad in this year’s Evening with Labor photo slideshow,
reports Kathleen McKirchy. “Electronic ad files must be received by 5P today
to be included in the slideshow,” says McKirchy. “Tickets and tables are
also still available.” Email ads and ticket/table requests to McKirchy at kmckirch@dclaborarchives.org.
Turn Around America Videos Now Online: If you missed
the launch of the new AFL-CIO “Turn Around America” videos at Monday’s
delegate meeting (Special
Delegate Meeting Tonight 3/17/08 UC), no need to fear. You can now watch
both videos online at our
website. The videos are part of the AFL-CIO’s “Turn Around America”
campaign to make health care the major issue for working families during the
2008 elections.
