Protestors Turn Up Heat on DC Burger King

Monday, February 25, 2008

Snow, ice and rain dampened DC Friday, but spirits were high outside a downtown Burger King where Georgetown students and labor activists held a spirited rally to protest the fast-food company's continued exploitation of Florida farmworkers. Protestors chanted "down, down with exploitation, up, up with fair food nation" and "the crown, the crown, the crown is going down" and passed out flyers to the lunchtime crowd. This is the second time in three months DC labor activists have rallied outside a local Burger King to highlight BK's refusal to address sweatshop working conditions in the fields of Florida (Caroling for Farmworker Justice 12/20/07 UC).
