New Union Staff Training (& Scholarships) Available

(Metropolitan Washington Council, AFL-CIO)If you've recently been appointed or elected to a full-time union staff position, there's still time to sign up for the National Labor College's "New Union Staff Training" course, set to run February 24 - 29. The course focuses on developing the personal skills and critical thinking needed to function effectively in the many different roles of a union staff member, as well as helping to improve planning skills needed to manage contract negotiations, organize campaigns, and run a local union. The basic structure, operation, and goals of the U. S. labor movement are also covered. Click here (courses are listed by start date) to find out more and register. And in a related story, women and/or people of color can apply for up to $3,000 in scholarships for accredited courses to develop careers in union leadership, available through the Union Leaders of the Future Scholarship fund.
