CSA Lands Two New Grants

Wednesday, February 13, 2008

The Community Services Agency (CSA) is launching a new program to help area construction apprentices. Partnering with New Futures, an initiative of the Allen Gould Youth and Family Learning Association, CSA - through its Building Futures program - will provide funds for transportation, tools and books to help young workers entering area union construction apprenticeship programs. "This will help remove barriers for young workers who often lack basics, like a car to get to worksites and the apprenticeship schools," says Building Futures Program Coordinator Silvia Casaro. "This partnership will really help some of our DC clients." CSA has also won a grant from the Prince George's Community Foundation -- which is administering National Harbor Funds for area non-profits -- to extend Building Futures to residents of Prince George's County as well. "CSA will continue to work actively develop partnerships with other non-profits in Prince George's County who are working to get their clients into good-paying, family-sustaining jobs," added CSA Executive Director Kathleen McKirchy.
