Labor College Saving Lives

Thursday, February 7, 2008

A few years ago, National Labor College (NLC) alumnus Mike Weibel had to quickly grab his tools to help a fellow union brother caught in a tire machine. Weibel, a pipe fitter and member of United Steelworkers Local 307 in Topeka, Kan., could offer the man only comfort. But seeing his union brother die before his eyes changed Mike’s life. He resolved to spend his life helping others avoid injuries on the job. Today, with the help of the NLC, Mike Weibel is one of his plant’s key safety and health professionals and one of the top union health and safety instructors in the nation. At the NLC, you can choose from more than 70 weeklong Union Skills Courses in such areas as arbitration, organizing, negotiations, safety and health, union building and leadership development. Register today and start your Union Skills Courses this month.
