Labor on the Move: Hugh Weathers

Hugh Weathers has been hired as a consultant to provide political and legislative assistance to Metro Council Political Coordinator Rick Powell. Weathers will concentrate on working with COPE in Montgomery, Prince George's and Tri- County, as well as in Annapolis and Labor 2008. Immediate projects include working with Casa de Maryland to pass the Domestic Workers bill before the Montgomery County Council, assisting with the National Harbor Joint Council in Prince George’s County and working with members of the Tri-County COPE on their efforts to obtain Prevailing Wage legislation in Charles County. Weathers previously served in various capacities for the Painters, including Senior Policy Advisor for their Political Action & Legislative Affairs Department, Director of the Environmental Justice Program, and Director of Resource Management for the America Works Partnership. Weathers, who lives in Alexandria, pursues music, writing and film interests in his spare time, and has two daughters in college.
