Post Campaign Continues: The ad campaign against the Washington Post’s unfair treatment of production workers “is drawing more attention than most PR efforts,” reported Doug Cunningham yesterday for the Workers Independent News. The workers – who have been without a contract for five years – are fighting attacks on their pension plan and for improved wages and benefits (Post Workers Take Complaint Public 1/3/08 UC). Workers and activists also plan to leaflet outside METRO stations across the city Friday to ramp up action for the campaign. The Real Price of Occupation: For the price of war last year, we could have hired 2 million elementary school teachers, placed 18 million children in Head Start, or provided health care to 58 million children, according to a new US Labor Against the War slideshow. The slideshow – “The Real Price of the Iraq Occupation: The ‘War on Terror’ and Military Spending” – analyzes the costs of the Iraq war and military spending on working people.
